Where Does Romney Really Stand on What Issue?
Tags: funding, hunting, immigration, Mitt Romney, National Rifle Association, NRA, Republican, the issues, warWhen confronted with questions that might conflict with his message of the day or political record, Republican candidate Mitt Romney has shown a tendency to bob and weave.
On spending his own money for his candidacy - Romney said he would not. Yet, we know he has contributed at least $2.35 miillion and "loaned" a total of $17.35 million to his committee.
On hunting, Romney claimed, "I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life." Aides later revealed he had gone hunting only twice in his life.
On being supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), Romney claims he was backed in 2002 while running for governor. Later, and by his own admission, Romney told reporters the gun-rights group stated they didn’t give him an official endorsement, but did phone-banked members to encourage them to support his candidacy.
On immigration, he criticizes other candidates of backing immigration bills that provide "amnesty" for illegal immigrants. Yet, in March 2006, Romney stated, "I don’t believe in rounding up 11 million people and forcing them at gunpoint from our country. Those that are here paying taxes and not taking government benefits should begin a process towards application for citizenship, as they would from their home country."
So Mitt Romney - where do you really stand on what issue? And are you sure THIS TIME? To quote candidate Mike Huckabee (R), "If a person is dishonest in his approach to get the job, do you believe he will be honest in telling you the truth when he does get the job?"
