What Suspending a Campaign Means for Mitt Romney
Tags: Campaign, Delegates, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Race, Republican, Suspension, videoIn 2000, it was John McCain suspending his campaign. In 2008, it’s Mitt Romney’s turn.
What does this imply for Mitt?
As we witnessed back with the 2000-race, it allows Romney to get federal matching funds for any last minute contributions, and he keeps control of his delegates for potential platform fights at the convention.
What does this mean to McCain? Despite Mitt not endorsing McCain (although Former Republican National Committee chairman Ken Mehlman endorsed McCain within hours of Romney’s withdrawal and urged all members of the Republican Party to back him), his departure from the race pretty much seals-the-deal for the Republican presidential nomination.
Check out the news video analysis on the suspension and the resulting look around/ahead for the near-term.
