As reported on the CNN Political Ticker site, the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll released Wednesday morning found the following about "The Issues" on American’s minds.

The top two items:

1. 82% of Americans said the economy will be extremely or very important to their vote for president.
2. 80% surveyed said the war in Iraq is ‘extremely or very important’ to their vote.

Seven other items of respondent’s concerns:

• Health Care 76%
• Terrorism 76%
• Iran 73%
• Gas prices 67%
• Poverty 65%
• Taxes 63%
• Immigration 61%.

(The telephone survey polled 1,024 American adults and had a sampling error of +/- 3 percentage points.)

From the Presidential-Race.net perspective, the survey REALLY boils down to FOUR main elements to which the candidates can focus their discussions, proposals, and plans on AND keep it simple.

1. Economy
2. Current Middle East Issues (Iraq / Iran)
3. Health Care
4. Immigration

Reasoning: The Economy (82%) is highly correlated to Gas Prices (67%), Poverty (65%) and Taxes (63%). News on Terrorism (76%) and Iran (73%) typically influence or directly relate to supply and price of a barrel of oil. All the elements impact the Economy of these United States, which in turns influences the balance of world economies.
