MoveOn.org has crossed a line. MoveOn’s ad essentially accuses General Petraeus a highly decorated, active duty officer of betraying his country. It is reprehensible. The image to the right is the ad that MoveOn ran. You can view the full text of the ad by clicking here.
Americans today are asking why the Democrat Senate Majority has moved so slowly to condemn this outrageous, un-American ad. I will tell you why: Campaign funds. The Democrat Senate is bought and owned by MoveOn.org. Doubt that? Take a look at the numbers:
- In the 2006 cycle, over $2.6 million dollars was raised by or through MoveOn.org for Senate Democrats.
- Tom Allen running against Senator Collins has received $249,472 in conduit contributions raised through MoveOn.org>
- Tom Harkin’s PAC has received $5,000 from MoveOn’s PAC
- Mary Landrieu has received $8,000
- Frank Lautenberg - $5,000
- Mark Pryor - $4,000
Apparently the prospect of campaign funds is enough of an incentive for Senate Democrats to slow-walk their condemnation while a respected General is maligned as he presents his report to Congress. In fact, most of the Democrat leadership in the Senate voted AGAINST condemning MoveOn.org!
General Petraeus was mentioned in Presidential-Race.net as Senator Hillary Clinton was changing her stance on Iraq. MoveOn.org was highlighted in the Presidential-Race.net on planned ad attacks against Rudy Giuliani. And MoveOn.org was the same group that wanted no military response against the Taliban in Afghanistan in the aftermath of September 11.
So reader - remember that MoveOn.org is a Political Action group (gee - more grimy politics). I hope you agree a General is not a political chess-piece, nor does a General deserve the disrespect dished out by Senator Hillary Clinton (again, as reported-out by Presidential-Race.net) as noted above and in her skeptical comments about General Petraeus’ congressional testimony about the ground situation in Iraq.
