Majority of SuperDelegates UNCOMMITTED
Tags: Barack Obama, Campaign, Delegates, Democrat, Hillary Clinton, Political B.S., SuperDelegates, videoAs reported from Reuters news (see attached video), Obama has picked up an additional 55 superdelegates (SD), while Hillary has lost 5. Clinton still leads total committed SDs at 255 with Obama at 224. However, the big news? 300+ still remain uncommitted.
Total delegates needed for any one candidate to win the nomination for the Democrats is 2,024. Let’s do a little math.
Obama has: 1,416 delegates pledged, with 224 SDs and 300+ SDs uncommitted as of today (the weird SD setup leaves you kind of fuzzy and it is hard to nail an exact number as the number CAN CHANGE UP TO THE BEGINNING OF THE CONVENTION but right now it sits at 795; sorry - Presidential-Race.net doesn’t make the rules). If Obama keeps what he currently has pledged PLUS take approx. 300 SDs, he still falls short at 1,940 or roughly 84 SDs.
Hillary has 1,252 delegates, add her 255 SDs, and add 300 SDs and she still falls short at 1,807, or roughly 217 SDs. But there are state contests left (such as Pennsylvania on 22-April)
So how long and how nasty can it get? VERY. And Obama is outspending Clinton 3-to-1. Watch the video for the analyst deep dive.
