GOP Race to the Polls in Turmoil
Tags: Democrat, Fred Thompson, John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Republican, Rudy Giuliani, the issuesAs reported by the Associated Press the GOP race is in turmoil. To what extent?
Four in 10 GOP voters have switched candidates in the past month alone, and nearly two-thirds say they may change their minds again.
Mike Huckabee, despite roaring to a technical tie with Giuliani is still has very little known of him with the voters; some are still questioning if he is conservative, liberal or moderate. Giuliani has had recent health concerns, and despite being declared with a clean bill of health by his doctor, it may come in to play in the mind of the voters. Romney is putting a spin on his approach (another?) play off some popular Reagan-era perspectives. McCain appears to be relatively quiet on the Iowan front and holding steady in the lower half of the pack, while in New Hampshire, McCain is in a STONG second-place showing. Thompson support keeps drifting lower and figuring into the percentages of the other candidates – although Thompson seems quite happy in teasing Democrat candidate Clinton with his statement that "There is no woman on the horizon that ought to be president next year."
While each candidate also picked up fresh supporters, Giuliani and Thompson saw their overall strength droop, with Giuliani losing the most. Huckabee’s support rose, while McCain and Romney stayed about the same (according to a recent Associated Press poll).
Never before in the history of politics will one vote play such an important roll in the history of American politics so early in the race.
So voter – extract all the campaign promises and commitments you can from your favorite candidate on the issues and participate to cast your important vote.
