I e-mailed my congressman at about 9 pm on the evening of the election to request tickets. I booked airfare to BWI (Baltimore) two days later. My daughter is 5; she may not remember going to the inauguration, but I can remember for her. We live in northwest Washington (state); couldn’t be further from DC, but I wouldn’t miss this opportunity for anything. I feel proud to be an American again - this election has charged my batteries and I think it’s important (for our family) to be there. I never considered NOT going.

With the Treasury Secretary on his spending spree he surely isn’t trying to get a good return on the tax payers’ investment. The bailout was to buy up bad mortgage debt but it never did. What is the purpose of the fund? Paulson’s has warrants on many banks and they average 1 – 3 percent when enacted. Yet the cash investment is about 20 percent of the market cap. Maybe the next Treasury Secretary will be less erratic.

it’s awesome that there has been this “problem” of long lines all over… people taking a greater interest in public issues is always a good thing
