Obamacare Grants IRS New, Perilous Power

March 19th, 2010 madmin Posted in Uncategorized No Comments »

From article author David A. Patten on Newsmax:
The Internal Revenue Service would gain sweeping new powers under President Obama’s healthcare reform proposals, in what Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee are calling a “dangerous expansion” of IRS powers.

That’s according to a nine-page Republican report from the Committee on Ways and Means on Thursday. It’s titled “The Wrong Prescription” Democrats’ Health Overhaul Dangerously Expands IRS Authority.”

Among the new powers the IRS would assume, the report says: The authority to confiscate tax refunds, to impose fines of over $2,200 per taxpayer, and to verify whether taxpayers’ health insurance coverage is “acceptable.”

One measure of the scope of the IRS’ new responsibilities under the healthcare overhaul: The agency might have to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents, and other employees in order to administer the program, according to Rep. Dave Camp, R-Mich., the ranking Republican on the Ways and Means Committee.

“It is a very dangerous expansion of the IRS’ power and reach into the lives of virtually every American,” Camp said in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

The Ways and Means report portrays healthcare reform as having a wide-ranging impact on how the IRS operates, including:

IRS agents would be tasked with determining whether Americans had obtained the insurance coverage required under the individual mandate.
Individuals could be fined $2,250 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater, if you are unable to prove you have “minimum essential coverage.”
The IRS would be empowered to confiscate tax refunds if necessary.
Audits probably would increase as a result of the legislation’s new requirements.
The budget for IRS operations will balloon by $10 billion in the next decade in order to administrate the new program.
Nearly half of the new individual mandate taxes will be paid “by Americans earning less than 300 percent of poverty, $66150 for a family of four.
A statement that Democrats are sure to dispute, the report, which Camp and fellow GOP Rep. Charles Boustany of Louisiana prepared, says healthcare reform would “fundamentally alter the relationship between the IRS and taxpayers.”

Essentially, the Republicans state, the reform bill makes the IRS responsible for “tracking the monthly health insurance status of roughly 300 million Americans.”

They express the concern that reform would alter the IRS’ traditional mission of collecting revenue, and adding a social-program delivery function to its portfolio.

“This is an unprecedented new role for the IRS — one that will inject the IRS even further into the lives of American families,” the report warns.

Don’t know about our Presidential-Race readers, but the less time the average Jane/Joe have to worry about the IRS and snooping, the better they’ll sleep at night!

Banks at Risk

February 23rd, 2010 madmin Posted in Uncategorized No Comments »

More than 700 banks, or nearly one out of every 11, are at risk of going under, according to a government report published Tuesday, 2/23/2010.

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said that the number of banks on its so-called “problem list” climbed to 702, its highest level since June 1993.

Just 76 financial institutions were on the list in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Is that the type of change we wanted via Obama? The FDIC also reported nearly a third of the more than 8,000 lenders across the country reported a loss for the 2009 year.

Federal Health Care & The Ultimate Gov’t Agency to Fear

December 10th, 2009 madmin Posted in Uncategorized No Comments »

The Obama administration seeks to empower a very powerful government agency you have probably never heard of, with new and expanded powers that will have a direct consequence on every American if they are successful in their efforts to implement national health care reforms.

The Obama White House is also drunk with power and is seeking to expand the powers of government agencies to oversee and act out to affect Americans in ways that this country has never seen before.

What is the Office of Personnel and Management and why should you care?

The Office of Personnel Management, (OPM), is suppose to be an independent government agency that is charged with managing the civil service system of the federal government. If you are a federal employee then civil service laws, rules and regulations that are managed by OPM govern you. One of the main charges of OPM is to administer and oversee federal health care provided to all federal employees.

The Director of OPM is appointed directly by the president and confirmed by the Democratically controlled Senate.

Under the Democrats’ national health care scheme not only would OPM be charged with overseeing and administering federal employees health care but they will have the added charge of administering civilian federal health care as well. What does that mean? Basically, that Americans will be treated as “civil servants.” Are you starting to see the danger?

The more government seeks to control our lives the more “big brother” it gets. It will be their mission to provide cradle to grave “care” of its citizens and will doom America and its Freedom as we know it. If such a system comes to fruition, the individual becomes meaningless and the state becomes IT.

The expanded “portfolio” of OPM should worry all Americans. This little known agency will make the IRS look down right friendly if the Obama administration is successful in expanding their duties, powers and responsibilities.

Barack – What is Up with That (deficit)?

March 4th, 2009 madmin Posted in Uncategorized No Comments »

First we see the stimulus budget inflate from $709 billion to over $1 trillion.  You’ve quadrupled the deficit with this plan, AND we’ll see you cut the deficit to 1/2 of what is was before the stimulus burden?  Whaddup?  Plus you will cut taxes?

Let’s talk “balanced budget” my friend.

In most simplistic terms, you have money coming in (plus), and money going out (minus), with a balance being pluses = minuses.  But the equality only keeps you with current status, which is ok if you start at zero.  To reduce a deficit however, you need to have more plus than minus.  Your ideal cannot be reached with the path you are on as you’re actions appear to be more like a child lacking basic mathematic skills in a candy store with $1.00 trying to buy $10.00 worth of candy.

Step back, re-evaluate, re-prioritize, make your selections, and don’t count on optimistic economic performance.  Don’t be lke G.W.B either - choose the correct metrics to monitor performance, and don’t be afraid to change direction if needed.

If Promises Are Made Then Favors Are Owed, Obama

October 30th, 2008 madmin Posted in Uncategorized No Comments »

While Barack Obama is slamming his opponent for anything under the sun, he’s cutting back-door deals with Automotive Big Business (you know, the ones who are getting Million$ of your tax dollars, and are now wanting even more than originally promised). And to gain that backing, you have to make promises. Once you make a promise to the Devil, he’ll make sure you pay back more than what was owed.

How do we know? YouTube poster from Louisville, KY – home of Ford’s Louisville Plant provided a video taped from the floor.

Obama at Ford Louisville Plant

And it doesn’t stop there. Another reader indicated that in Michigan, there was an Obama telecast to Ford employees, with the Governor of that state in attendance, in person. How important to Ford was this? – they shut their plant shift down so employees could watch (a costly feat to stop production).

Guilty on all charges of cutting back-door deals.

Will this work for the UAW employees and save jobs? They’ll find out the hard way once General Motors (GM) cuts a deal to get Chrysler from Cerberus and then slash the UAW jobs of the Chrysler employees (rumored to be 35,000), and close MANY plants to keep only 3 Chrysler vehicle lines operative. But to do this, GM needs Federal money (our tax money) to help finance and close the deal.

Good for the country? I think not. Obama – the Devil in sheeps clothing.
