As you have either heard or read, you should know by now Mitt Romney (R) is running with "business know how" as his strength the other candidates do not have.
But is it really a strength?
Most have read that Mitt’s father was CEO of the failed American Motors Corporation (with vehicles such as the Pacer, Matador, and Gremlin). Recent investigation has found that Mitt Romney had a venture in to the automotive industry as well - with a supplier company named Cambridge Industries.
Must have been a success story with his whiz-bang business expertise…
WRONG!
Mitt had a venture capital firm that invested in Cambridge, and after 5 years of the acquisition-stake, BAILED-OUT, shortly after the company sought bankruptcy protection, and within a year was sold.
But the sale must have save jobs, as Mitt claims he can do for American?
WRONG!
The new owner cut over 1,000 jobs. Doesn’t sound like a success-story, does it?
Mitt has deflected this 2000 loss by stating he left the venture capital firm in 1999 to help rescue the financially troubled Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympics.
But wins and losses in a corporate world aren’t made in 1 year, it takes a few years of underlying changes and decisions to set the final chapter.
